Brisbane guitarist and collector Terry brought this brilliant Gibson Custom Shop relic Gold top Les Paul in for a pickup repair. Terry had the pickup repaired and pot changed years ago and to be honest the repairs were dodgy. The pickup was dead but fortunately only one coil was bad and I was able to repair it with the orginal windings intact. The bridge pickup volume pot had been replaced but had cracked up again. There was a fair bit of excess solder around the pickup and switch leads and the jack lead plastic sleeve was melted, what a mess! Terry brought in a new Gibson heritage volume pot and I set about cleaning it all up as close to spec as I could.
