1963 Gibson Patent # Humbucker – Rebuild

Description

This 1962 – 63 Gibson Patent number neck humbucker came to me in pieces from Perth and I rewound both coils and then re-assembled it.  This version had the classic Plain enamel PAF winds but used an alnico 5 magnet and they also had the new Patent # sticker.  This model was used from 1962 until 1965 when it was replaced with the T-tops that used 42 AWG Poly wire and also the alnico 5.  It was a neat job to do and went off without a hitch.  I wound it to 8.15k and the owner decided to run it without the cover to match the pickup already in his 63 Les Paul.  I live for jobs like this and the more the merrier!
